The third quarter of season 2 episodes from Deadwood are maintaining interest quite well. Things felt to get a bit out of place when focus turned to Bullock’s son, but was nicely resolved as it grew to a frisson of tension that things were building to a head. It was also nice to see that certain extremes were coming together – with Swearengen and Mrs Garret finally meeting up, and connections growing between Calamity Jane and Joanie Stubbs.
Episodes 18-20 of Elementary had some nice twists and turns, but some of the writing felt like it had lazily turned to techniques from most tv crime drama shows. I remain hopeful that the remains of the series will lift its game.
