Christmas meals galore are on the menu for today, with an AGM to help space things out bit.

Christmas lunch

This morning it was time to get things ready for the Christmas lunch at the Linwood community centre. The place cards I had been working on have been quite a success, and the tables were filled with Christmas crackers, candy canes, xmas decorations, and parcels of sweets.

The afternoon was a huge success with well over 40 people turning up, and as a result I’ve been asked in to Te Whare Roimata for a free massage tomorrow. I have heard though that it’s of some sort of holistic nature, so I wonder what it will be like?

AGM with Christmas dinner

Later on at 5pm was the Hepatitis C AGM being held at the Lone Star Cafe, where a summary of the year occurred ending with an election of board members, for which I’ve been brought on again.

Afterwards we had our Christmas dinner there too, which on top of the lunch I’d just had and the known generosity of the Lone Star Cafe¬†portion sizes, was going to be something of a challenge to enjoy.¬†Fortunately I chose to leave some of the rib eye steak meal on the plate, which left plenty of room to enjoy their completely decadent Banoffee pie.

The only negative aspect of the evening though was just after 7 PM when the wait staff took our dinner order and told us we would have to be finished by 8. That wouldn’t leave much time to enjoy the meal and order dessert, which was a hurried affair due to the time limit.

Even though the meals were delicious, that experience of well-paying customers being harried out before a set time has put me off from returning there again.
