Much time is spent today investigating some Steam sale specials, and a complete the map challenge is completed, but not without a few issues.

Steam specials

It’s been a games day for me today. Over the Christmas period Steam have been having lots of big specials, so I’ve been picking up games for between $2 and $5 throughout the period. As a result, the collection has been building up quite nicely:

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Dishonored
  • Sim City 4
  • Brütal Legend
  • Dust
  • Kerbal Space Program
  • FTL: Faster Than Light

I suspect though that I’ll have next to no opportunity to properly enjoy these though, given my past history of having too much else to do.

Minecraft challenges

Aside from those recent acquirements though, I’ve been finding that some Minecraft challenge maps have been providing an enjoyable distraction. A recent CTM (Complete the map) challenge has been Diversity, where you are challenged to successfully complete a wide range of activities, which include:

  • Adventure
  • Arena
  • Trivia
  • Parkour
  • Escape
  • Labyrinthian
  • Dropper
  • Survival
  • Puzzle
  • Boss Battle

They’re not all perfect, for some of the puzzle challenges require you to use debug mode in the game in order to successfully complete them. When puzzles require that (and his commentary videos show that it is required), it’s best for the author to give you permission to do within the game. Otherwise it’s not possible to solve.

And with the dropper challenges, those were lifted wholesale from another challenge map called The Code, and so while he hasn’t improvement on them it has provided a useful path to find other enjoyable challenges, such as:

The trivia, escape, and the survival challenges were certainly the most enjoyable ones for me to complete.
